Pen and pastel.
Since classical times, particularly in Mediterranean cultures, Grapes have long been associated with abundance and fertility further reinforcing their connection to sensuality and desire. Grapes particularly when made into wine, have a long history of being associated with aphrodisiacs. Delicate colors, complex flavors and velvety textures all point to the seductive quality of wine. The poet Pablo Neruda opines in his poem Ode to Wine: “My darling suddenly the line of your hip becomes the brimming curve of the wine goblet, your breast is the grape cluster, your nipples are the grapes. The gleam of spirits lights your hair and your navel is a chaste seal stamped on the vessel of your belly, your love an inexhaustible cascade of wine.” With my contorto drawing, I stress the seductive nature of woman as she indulges in the humble grape.
